Where it may fit
A candidate if you want Islamic savings and goal-based pots. Compare the effective profit rate, minimum balance and card costs before choosing.
Consider the limitation: Check cash and card costs if you withdraw often. Confirm the card-ordering fees and the rate after the Pot promotion ends.
Keep spending money and goal money distinct
Murabahah via Tawarruq means the savings arrangement uses commodity purchase and sale transactions, with the bank appointed as your agent. The contracted ceiling profit rate is a contractual calculation figure; it is not the rate your everyday balance earns.
From RM3,000 set aside for the month, you leave RM1,200 for rent and RM800 for groceries and bills, and allocate RM1,000 to a car-maintenance Pot. Only the RM1,000 in the Pot earns the promotional rate. A spending plan matters more than opening many Pots.
Allow for temporary card holds as well as purchases. At an automated petrol pump, the card disclosure specifies a RM200 pre-authorisation hold, released within three calendar days. That can temporarily restrict a small spending balance even when the actual fuel purchase is lower.
JomPAY is now advertised on the bank’s personal homepage. Confirm your particular biller and limits before transferring bill money. The card also restricts certain non-Shariah-compliant merchant categories; check the disclosure if a transaction is declined.

Account and savings conditions
- Account
- Savings Account-i · Murabahah via Tawarruq
- Who can apply
- For the standard Malaysian application: age 18+, valid MyKad, a smartphone with front and back cameras, and an existing non-joint personal savings or current account for verification. The disclosure also lists specific Japanese AEON-employee eligibility; contact the bank for that route.
- Opening & ongoing balance
- RM1 initial deposit from your own bank account via DuitNow or FPX; no ongoing minimum balance under the terms effective 17 March 2026.
- Ordinary return
- 0.25% p.a. prevailing profit rate for Savings Account-i and Savings Pots, before the Pot promotion. Profit is calculated daily and paid monthly.
- Bonus / hibah conditions
- Savings Pots: published promotional profit rate of 3.00% p.a. until 28 February 2027. Move savings into a Pot to earn this rate. Up to 20 Pots.
Use the prevailing or promotional profit rate to estimate earnings; the 10% contract ceiling serves a different purpose. Illustration: at 3.00% p.a., RM5,000 in a Pot for 30 days earns about RM12.33 before rounding; at 0.25% in the main account, about RM1.03. Closing before the monthly profit payment forfeits that unpaid profit.
