Money in a main account, ordinary Pocket/Jar and promotional Pocket/Pot can earn different returns. AEON’s Pot promotion has an end date; KAF’s hibah is discretionary. Boost’s employee-only payroll product is excluded. Rates are shown per year (p.a.).

Start with when you need the money

Illustration: if RM2,000 is next month’s rent and bills, access and payment reliability matter more than a six-month bonus. A 1 percentage-point improvement on RM2,000 held unchanged for a year is about RM20 before compounding. That hypothetical difference can be smaller than card or ATM costs.

Plan how you will deposit cash

If you regularly receive cash, keep a bank with a verified cash-in service until you have confirmed a suitable replacement. You can then transfer from that account, subject to its terms. Ryt’s ATM/branch activation transfers money already held in another bank account using IBG.

Check the limit set in your app before a large payment. KAF’s account-tier allowance is shared across payment types.

Where each may fit—and where to pause

GXBank

May fit: Worth comparing if separate savings goals would help you organise money and you want a phone support route at any hour.

Consider the limitation: Less useful as your only account if you regularly deposit cash or cheques. Check JomPAY and direct-debit support before moving recurring bills.

Help outside the app: Hotline and in-app chat: 24/7. Email is available for written follow-up. +603 7498 3188.

AEON Bank

May fit: A candidate if you want Islamic savings and goal-based pots. Compare the effective profit rate, minimum balance and card costs before choosing.

Consider the limitation: Check cash and card costs if you withdraw often. Confirm the card-ordering fees and the rate after the Pot promotion ends.

Help outside the app: Customer Support hotline: 24/7. Email and web enquiry form also available. +603 4816 8888.

All official contact options

Boost Bank

May fit: Worth comparing if you already use Boost and would benefit from keeping savings goals separate from spending.

Consider the limitation: Less compelling if linking another app adds complexity without helping your saving or spending. Card ownership has an annual cost after the first-year waiver, and Special Jar headlines do not describe the ordinary account.

Help outside the app: General hotline and email: 9am–9pm daily. +603 8658 3000.

All official contact options

KAF Digital Bank

May fit: A candidate for Islamic everyday banking if its account tier covers your usual payments and you are comfortable with discretionary returns.

Consider the limitation: Not a match for someone who needs a promised savings yield. If your outgoing payments often approach the Basic Plus limit, settle your tier and available allowance before relying on it for salary-day payments. Local ATM pricing needs confirmation.

Help outside the app: Wira KAF advertises 24/7 support. Hotline and official WhatsApp work outside the banking app. +603 8744 3331.

Ryt Bank

May fit: Worth comparing if your normal card purchases or eligible bill payments can meet the bonus conditions without extra spending.

Consider the limitation: The bonus is less useful if you must invent purchases to qualify. Activation requires another Malaysian account in your own name. You can use its ATM or branch for the initial transfer if you do not have internet banking.

Help outside the app: Phone: 8am–8pm daily. In-app chat: 24/7. Email and the help-site ticket form are outside-app options. +603 5115 5115.

Keeping your current bank may be the useful choice

If your existing account already handles salary, cash deposits and bills reliably, you do not need to replace it to try a savings feature. Test an extra account with a modest amount first. The ordinary cost and usefulness after a promotion ends matter as much as the joining reward.

For Islamic savings, compare AEON’s Murabahah/Tawarruq structure with KAF’s Qard and discretionary hibah. Eligible deposits are subject to PIDM limits and categories; separate Pots do not create separate protection limits.
