Where it may fit

Worth comparing if you already use Boost and would benefit from keeping savings goals separate from spending.

Consider the limitation: Less compelling if linking another app adds complexity without helping your saving or spending. Card ownership has an annual cost after the first-year waiver, and Special Jar headlines do not describe the ordinary account.

Bank balance, Jar or Boost eWallet?

Your Boost Bank savings account and Boost eWallet are distinct balances. An ordinary Jar separates a savings goal inside the bank. Linking the wallet is optional; it does not turn wallet money into a bank savings balance or give it the Jar’s rate.

Illustrative Malaysian budget

You reserve RM2,000 in an ordinary Jar for road tax, insurance and servicing, and keep RM300 for daily spending. When you need the saved money, transfer it back to the main bank account. If you enable Auto Add Money for wallet purchases, read which balance will fund a top-up before authorising it; a wallet payment can move money out of the linked bank account.

Auto Add Money requires your own Boost eWallet with matching identity details. Its authorisation lasts six months and has a maximum monthly limit of RM10,000; choose a lower limit if that suits your budget. Ordinary Jars, partner-linked Special Jars and the competitive Bid at Boost campaign have different rules. Check the exact Jar name instead of relying on a banner.

For cash, use the physical bank debit card at an eligible ATM. A virtual card cannot dispense banknotes. Overseas and online card use are disabled by default under the July disclosure; enable only the uses you need.

Before making it your everyday account

  1. Complete own-account credit-transfer verification to obtain the full payment limits.
  2. Start with one ordinary Jar and test moving money back for a bill.
  3. If linking the eWallet, review Auto Add Money’s funding source, limit and expiry.
  4. For the physical card’s contactless function, make the first in-store purchase using the six-digit PIN, as the bank instructs.

Use the full changeover checklist and keep a working payment route while testing.

Borrowing from this bank

Compare financing eligibility and costs, including eligibility, costs and questions to settle before accepting credit. A savings account does not guarantee borrowing approval.

Before applying

The separate Boostie Payroll account is limited to Malaysian Boost Bank employees. Its Malay FAQ conflicts with the public savings rates; use the ordinary account or Jar rate above for a public account.

Account approval depends on the bank’s checks. See Compare Banks for alternatives and PIDM protection for deposit limits.
